Significant Boost to Healthcare in Remote Dolpa: 109 Essential Medical Units Handed Over
DOLPA – In a major effort to bridge the healthcare gap in one of Nepal’s most remote Himalayan districts, essential medical supplies have been delivered to Dolpa. Facing extreme geographical isolation, a lack of road connectivity, and a shortage of specialist doctors, the district hospital has received 109 units of 25 different types of critical health equipment.
The initiative was led by Prakash Khadka, Coordinator of the Gen Z Council (Karnali Province). The life-saving equipment, which includes oxygen concentrators, oxygen cylinders, hematology analyzers, and BiPAP machines, was formally handed over to Dr. Sijan Rawat, In-charge of the Dolpa District Hospital.
These tools are expected to bring immediate improvements to emergency care, respiratory treatments, and laboratory services, providing residents with services that were previously difficult to access within the district.
The successful delivery of these resources involved a collaborative effort including Dr. Keshar Dhakal, Director General of the Department of Health Services; Gyan Bahadur Buddha, Coordinator of Gen Z Dolpa; and technical support from Raj Karki of Suit Mala, Bagbazar, Kathmandu.
Observers note that this direct intervention in such a challenging landscape further establishes Prakash Khadka as a results-oriented leader dedicated to improving public health in underserved regions.
