NICCI-Unilever Nepal discussion on Pertinent current industrial issues


Today, the Discussion held between Nepal-India Chamber of Commerce & Industry (NICCI) and Unilever Nepal Ltd. at the Secretariat of NICCI.

The Meeting discussed on the following current pertinent Industrial Issues : 

• Repatriation Issue
• Reconsider the Custom & Excise Duty imposed on Raw Material in comparison to the Imported Finished Goods.
• Payment of Royalty against usage of Trademarks should be treated as expenses
• Distributors and businesses are getting affected by insistent collateral provision by banks to procure Bank Guarantee
• Review of Definition of “Trading” and permit importing finished goods to Nepal 
• Extension of Excise Duty Credit to Packaging Materials.

Mr. Sunil KC from the NICCI and Mr. Amlan Mukherjee, MDof Unilever Nepal Ltd. along with the members participated the discussion.

The meeting concluded with the positive note on taking initiation by NICCI for resolving the issues with the cooperation and coordination with the Multinational Companies operating in Nepal as well as other Nepalese industries.
