Kumari Bank Limited & MinErgy Initiatives Partner to Advance Climate Action and Green Finance Practices.
Committed to driving sustainability through its products, process and partnership, Kumari Bank Limited (KBL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with MinErgyInitiatives (MI). This strategic partnership establishes a collaborative framework designed to accelerate sustainable development, climate resilience and gender equality across Nepal by linking localized green projects with commercial banking mechanisms. By blending MinErgy’s technical expertise in climate change mitigation with KBL’s robust financial infrastructure, the alliance will dismantle traditional barriers to credit for Micro, Small, Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and local communities.
The agreement was formally executed by Mr. Chandan Karki, Chief Investment and Marketing Officer of Bank and Mr. ShyamSundar Shrestha, Chairman at MI. The primary objective of this milestone partnership is to cultivate a “Bank-Ready Community and a Community-Ready Bank.”
“Bridging the gap between international climate finance and grassroots entrepreneurs requires an ecosystem that understands both community realities and banking risk frameworks”, stated by Mr. Arpan Paudel, Head-Sustainable Banking at Bank. This partnership transforms capacity building into tangible financial inclusion.
As one of Nepal’s premier financial institutions, Kumari Bank will leverage its robust network to scale these transformative initiatives. KBL’s expansive footprint includes 286 branches, 304 ATMs, 41 extension counters, 40 branchless banking units and over 1,233 POS terminals, complemented by cutting-edge digital, mobile and international Visa card services.
Renowned for its customer-centric innovation and strong corporate governance, Kumari Bank’s collaboration with MI reinforces its role as a pivotal catalyst in driving sustainable economic development and supporting Nepal’s transition toward a cleaner, climate-resilient future.
